The second artifact of Relictorism is based on the principle of the natural selection of forms
and processes.
Meotis is a natural marine stone — a formation born in the depths of water. It carries the
trace of time, the pressure of depth, and a geological memory formed through long natural
processes.
The tree represents growth, vertical movement, development, and living transformation.
The union of stone (water) and tree forms the central axis of the work: horizontal and
vertical, depth and growth, memory and development.
The stone symbolizes depth and the past. The tree symbolizes growth and the future.
Within their interaction, the philosophy of Relictorism is revealed — from countless
processes only some acquire form through natural selection.
Conceptual Value
The value of the work lies in the meeting of natural force and conscious artistic choice.
Water and tree, horizontal and vertical, depth and growth become the key formula of this
artifact.
The work affirms that artistic form is born through duration, the pressure of time, and the
internal selection of decisions.
Status
The work is a unique, single-edition artifact. It can be exhibited as an independent artwork
and at the same time function as part of the evolving system of Relictorism.
